From a distance, a building reads as a silhouette. Up close, our attention shifts to surfaces, reflections and the spaces between structures. Both perspectives matter: one helps us recognise a place, while the other shapes how we experience it.
The horizontal gesture
Against the upward rhythm of a skyline, a horizontal line offers a different way to read the city. It draws the eye across the view, making the space between buildings part of the composition.
Light, glass & scale
Glass gives architecture a changing surface. Reflections can soften an edge, reveal a rhythm or bring the surrounding sky into the façade. A view in warm evening light can feel very different from the same composition under a bright midday sky.
These shifts invite us to slow down and look again. Beyond the overall form, details of proportion, material and light help a building become part of our memory of a place.
